Customer Login at Checkout

Customer Login at Checkout

Can I skip the login code or email verification for customers at checkout?

No. Customer login at checkout can't be turned off, and there is no merchant setting to disable it. After a customer enters their email at the Partial.ly checkout, they always have to log in, and first-time customers verify their email address before they can open a payment plan.

This is a required security measure. Partially stores customers' saved payment methods, so a customer's account can't be left open to anyone — otherwise a person entering that email address could open a plan using someone else's saved payment method. Requiring login also confirms the email address is valid and reachable, since that's where the customer's plan and payment notifications are sent.

How customers log in

When a customer enters their email at checkout, Partially uses one of two methods:

  • Emailed login code (default): Partially emails the customer a one-time verification code, which they enter to continue. The code expires after 20 minutes. First-time customers are registered through this flow, which also verifies their email address.
  • Password (customer's choice): Customers who would rather not receive an emailed code each time can set up a password on their Partially account and log in with it instead. This is chosen by the customer on their own account — it is not a merchant setting, and it does not remove the login requirement.

Every customer authenticates with one of these two methods before opening a plan; there is no way to bypass login entirely.
