Smart Customization for Ecwid

Smart Customization lets Partial.ly automatically pick the right offer — or hide Partial.ly entirely — based on rules you set about the customer's cart. It requires rules created under Smart Customization; there's no separate install step for Ecwid.

It works automatically at checkout

Your Ecwid app configuration has a single Offer ID entered under Configuration → Payment → Partially → Actions. Once you turn on Enable Smart Customization, Partial.ly automatically re-checks your rules at the moment a customer completes checkout with Partially as the payment method, and uses the matched rule's offer instead of the configured Offer ID — you don't need to change anything in the Ecwid app settings.

This works with a rule's default Applies to setting (Product and cart pages), as well as Cart page or All contexts — Ecwid checkout is treated as part of the cart family. Product page and WooCommerce checkout rules will not apply to Ecwid.

Because Ecwid can only tell Partially the customer's choice after they've already selected Partially at checkout, a matching Hide rule can't stop the option from being shown up front. Instead, the customer is bounced back to Ecwid checkout with a message that pay-over-time isn't available for their order and asked to choose another payment method.

Rule fields for Ecwid carts

Condition rules can match on cart total, currency, and customer fields, plus Product ID, Variant ID, and SKU for line items. Ecwid doesn't expose product tags, vendor, or product type through the catalog sync, so Tags, Vendor, and Product type conditions won't match anything for Ecwid line items — use Categories instead, once your Ecwid product catalog is synced.

Advanced Scripting (deprecated — use Smart Customization instead)

Advanced Scripting is deprecated and should not be used or recommended for new setups. Everything it did — minimum purchase amounts, per-product offers, hiding Partial.ly for certain carts — is now handled by the Smart Customization rules described above, which are free and configured in the Partial.ly UI with no code. For per-product offers on Ecwid, create a Smart Customization rule matching on Product ID, Variant ID, or SKU.

The older Settings → Advanced Scripting feature is retained only for existing merchants who still have scripts in place. Those legacy scripts are written in Lua, not JavaScript — if you are maintaining one, keep it in Lua. Do not write new Advanced Scripts.
