Smart Customization Overview

Smart Customization

Smart Customization lets you automatically choose which Partial.ly offer to show — or hide the Partial.ly checkout option entirely — based on what's in a customer's cart. Instead of hardcoding a single offer in your checkout button or widget, you write rules and Partial.ly picks the right offer (or hides the button) in real time as the cart changes.

Manage Smart Customization at Smart Customization in your Partial.ly account.

Turning it on

Smart Customization is off by default. On the Smart Customization page, check Enable Smart Customization under Settings and click Update Settings. While it's off, your checkout button and widget keep using whatever offer is already configured on the page — rules are not evaluated.

Fallback offer

If no rule matches a customer's cart, Smart Customization uses the Fallback offer you choose in Settings. If you leave Fallback offer set to "No fallback offer," the checkout falls back to whatever offer is already configured directly on the button, widget, or page — Smart Customization won't override it.

Rule limits

Each merchant can create up to 2 Smart Customization rules by default. If you reach your limit, "New Rule" is disabled and you'll see a message that higher limits are coming soon with Partial.ly Growth. Contact support@partial.ly if you need more rules before then.

Recent Evaluations

The Recent Evaluations table on the Smart Customization page shows the last rule decisions Partial.ly made for your store — which rule matched (if any), what action it took, and how long evaluation took. Click Details on any row to see the full input and decision. Use this table to confirm a rule is firing the way you expect after you create or edit it.
