There are different types of Stripe accounts, standard connect or express connect. While we previously supported express connect accounts, starting March 15th 2024 we will only allow new accounts to use standard connect moving forward.
How can I tell which type of account I have?
You can sign in to your Partially merchant account, click the settings menu, then integrations. If you have a Stripe account connected, it will say either express or standard connect beneath the Stripe logo.
Is there a difference in pricing?
Yes, standard connect accounts will be charged a 2% fee per transaction, while express connect accounts will be charged 5% + $0.30 per transaction. Standard connect accounts will also pay their own Stripe fee, while express connect accounts will have the Stripe fee paid by Partially.
Are there any other differences?
Yes, standard connect accounts will have the transactions run on their Stripe account (direct charges), which means that all customer data and payment method data will be stored in their account. Standard connect accounts will also be liable for chargeback fees and will submit evidence for disputed chargebacks in their Stripe dashboard. Express connect accounts will have the transactions run on Partially's Stripe account (destination charges), which means that all customer data and payment method data will be stored in Partially's Stripe account. Express connect accounts will need to submit chargeback dispute evidence to Partially.
Can I migrate from express connect to standard connect?
Yes, there will be a button on the integration settings page in your Partially merchant portal. Migrating will require connecting or creating a standard Stripe account, and we will then migrate all payment method and customer data from Partially's Stripe account to your standard connect Stripe account.
What if I had a standard connect account prior to March 4th 2024?
We will automatically update your pricing to 2% per transaction and copy all customer and payment method data from Partially's Stripe account to your Stripe account.
