Account Access and Security

Account Access, Security, and Preferences

This article combines several related topics on accessing and securing your Partially merchant account: logging in, account preferences, two-factor authentication, and IP-related access errors.

Merchant login

Merchants can log in at https://partial.ly/merchant to view their account.

Forgot password

You can reset your password by clicking the forgot password link on the login page: https://partial.ly/forgotpassword. The link will appear once you submit your login email. Be sure to check your spam folder.

User preferences

In the User Preferences section, merchants can enable two-factor authentication (2FA) and set their default language.

The default language for your Partially user account can be updated to 6 different language selections: English, Deutsch, Español, Français, and others.

About two-factor authentication (2FA)

Two-factor authentication increases the security of your Partially account by always requiring two "factors" to log in, instead of just one. Even if someone acquires your account password, they won't be able to log in without also gaining access to the second factor.

The first factor required is the same password you already use to log in.

You can choose from two different second factors: email or a TOTP app (e.g., Authy or Google Authenticator for Android or iOS). In both cases, you'll be given a one-time password every time you log in that you'll need to enter into Partially.

Setting up 2FA

2FA can be enabled for your account from the Preferences page, linked under your account email on the sidebar menu.

On the Preferences page, click the button labeled "Enable 2 factor authentication." You'll see two options for your second factor:

  • Email a code (default) — every time you log in, a one-time security code will be emailed to you. You'll need to enter or copy and paste the code into Partially.
  • Authy or Google Authenticator app — instead of receiving one-time passwords by email, you'll use a TOTP app to generate the passwords.

TOTP App Setup

  1. Open the TOTP app and scan the QR code shown in Partially.
  2. The app will show you a security code; enter the code in Partially and click the Validate Token button.

You should see a success message at the top of the Preferences page once setup is complete.

Using 2FA

With 2FA enabled, you'll still need to enter your email address and password as usual — your regular password will always be the first factor. Once Partially confirms your email address and password are correct, you'll be prompted for your second factor.

Email: Check your email for a message from Partially with a subject like "Partially login code." The one-time password included expires after 20 minutes. If you don't receive an email, click the "resend email" link to request another.

TOTP App: Open your app and select the Partially account that was created when you set up 2FA. Enter the security code shown into Partially.

One-time passwords generated by TOTP apps are time-based and change regularly (e.g., every 30 seconds). You may need to enter a second password from your app if the first one expires before it can be validated. Your app should show new passwords automatically as they're generated.

IP address blocked

We block requests from specific IP addresses for a few reasons.

Too many requests too quickly. If you see either of these errors:

"We've received too many requests from your IP address and have temporarily restricted access. Please try again later"

"We've received too many requests from your IP address and have temporarily restricted access"

Wait at least 5 seconds and then try again.

Too many failed login attempts. If you see this error:

"We've noticed suspicious activity from your IP address, so you are temporarily blocked. Please contact us if you think this is a mistake"

You will be blocked from logging in, or loading the login page, for a full day (24 hours). Contact our team at support@Partially to have your IP address unblocked.

You can find your public IP address (the IPv4 address) by searching "what is my ip address" using a web search engine.

If you're not aware of any failed login attempts, you may want to reset your account's password by clicking "Forgot your password?" on the login page after entering your email address.
